Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children

Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children

ASHS are acutely aware that unaccompanied asylum seeking children (UASC) are amongst some of the most vulnerable young people in our society and are in need of support, stability, protection and a safe place they can call home. We understand that the experiences of UASC in their home country and the journey to the UK will have undoubtedly had a profound impact upon their emotional and, quite possibly, their physical and psychological well being.

From the moment UASC are placed with ASHS we want them to feel welcome, comfortable and safe. ASHS will always seek to ensure the religious, cultural and ethnic needs of UASC are respected, e.g. providing separate cooking equipment and utensils for those who observe a strict Halal diet.

ASHS also offer accommodation in multi-cultural locations within the city of Bristol where UASC from a variety of backgrounds will be able to access places of worship and cultural foods without difficulty, and interact with people of many different nationalities, which may aid feelings of belonging and security.

As well as key work sessions focusing on life and integration in the UK, we are delighted to be able to offer all UASC placed with ASHS 1:1 English language tuition with a fully qualified TESOL as an additional service.
